Teradyne Launches Zero-Footprint, Multi-Site TestStation System for Automated Inline Use
NORTH READING, Mass. – April 10, 2013 – Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER), a global provider of proven, high-quality, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) test and inspection equipment, launched the TestStation Inline system for automated lines, a new addition to its award-winning TestStation family of PCB test systems. The system will be debuted at the SMT Hybrid Packaging 2013 Conference.(http://www.mesago.de/en/SMT/home.htm")

The TestStation Inline incorporates several new, industry-first capabilities:
  • A zero-footprint Inline design, designed to fit entirely within narrowest automated lines without the need for additive storage bays or incremental factory space.
  • A test system architecture delivering true multi-site test capability to test multiple units concurrently. The architecture eliminates test time bottlenecks and increases test cell productivity by 2 to 4 times or more relative to conventional test alternatives.
  • A test system component that completely integrates within most major automated handling systems, allowing customers to preserve existing, preferred automation vendors.
“By miniaturizing and relocating the test head closest to the product under test, incorporating multi-site test capability and combining with automated material handling, the TestStation Inline delivers a further step function reduction in cost of test," said John Arena, Marketing manager at Teradyne."The system reduces test-seconds per unit, manual operator labor costs and factory floor space and related costs.“

SMT Hybrid Packaging is Europe´s largest event on System Integration in Micro Electronics. The event is held in Nuremberg, Germany from April 16-18, 2013. Teradyne is exhibiting in Booth #7-431.

"Today, European and Asian automotive and industrial PCB OEM’s and EMS have a particularly acute need to boost test cell productivity and yield. In particular, the growth of ECU’s (electronic control units) in vehicles is growing by 35 percent year-over-year,” Arena continued. “Teradyne’s TestStation Inline provides volume OEM and EMS manufacturers with powerful solutions to further lower test cell costs, while preserving current automation vendor selection."

Teradyne has been a leading provider of high quality Printed Circuit Board (PCB) automated production test equipment for over 40 years. Teradyne’s Commercial Board Test Group designs, manufactures and markets Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) solutions to the world’s leading PCB original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and electronics manufacturing services (EMS) suppliers. Its mission is to help electronics manufacturers ensure product integrity and final quality of their products, by aspiring to deliver the highest possible fault coverage and defect detection technology available.

TestStation is Teradyne’s flagship family of in-circuit and functional test systems that provide electronics manufacturers with reliable, high-quality process and final test for PCB assemblies.
