| New Single-Bay Spectrum™
9010 VXI Foundation Platform Introduced at AUTOTESTCON
SALT LAKE CITY, UT - August 25, 1998 - Teradyne, Inc.
(NYSE:TER), the leading supplier of commercial-off-the-shelf
(COTS) functional test equipment for mil/aero applications,
announced its new Spectrum 9010 VXI Foundation Platform
at AUTOTESTCON '98. The Spectrum 9010 offers test system
integrators new price and performance options for configuring
VXI-based systems for electronic assemblies. Teradyne
has already received $1.8 million in orders for multiple
Spectrum 9010 systems.
The new Spectrum 9010 VXI Foundation Platform offers
a a core functional test building block for applications
where performance verification is key. Request a data
sheet.
The Spectrum 9010 is the newest member of Teradyne's
Spectrum 9000-Series, which provides a comprehensive
range of solutions for assembly test using in-circuit,
boundary-scan, and functional-test technologies. The
Spectrum 9020, a larger two-frame system, was introduced
earlier this year at NEPCON West as part of the Spectrum
family of VXI test platforms.
The single-bay Spectrum 9010 offers a cost-effective
solution for tailoring or reconfiguring a system as
capacity requirements change. Scaleable options with
the Spectrum 9010 include choice of fixturing schemes,
analog instrumentation, digital configurations, power
distribution subsystems, and alternative VXI chassis.
The Spectrum 9010 provides customers a core functional
board test platform to build on and room for expansion
to meet changing performance requirements over time.
According to John Arena, Spectrum 9000 product manager,
"The Spectrum 9010 is designed for focused, lower-mix,
application-specific test where performance verification
is key. By leveraging VXI software and hardware standards,
the Spectrum 9010 provides a core building block with
an openness and reconfigurability, while providing performance
test capabilities not previously available in a VXI
architecture. The Spectrum 9010 is a fully integrated
functional test system, ready to support high-performance
digital, RF, and mixed-signal test requirements. Standards
based software, and modular power and cooling meet the
most demanding requirements and ensure problem-free
integration of additional instruments."
Web-based ATE Operating Environment Integrates Development,
Documentation, Debug, and Execution
The Spectrum 9010 operating environment is Teradyne's
TestStudio™. TestStudio offers a versatile, open-architecture
environment for test development, documentation, debug,
and execution that can be easily configured to support
multiple software and TPS development requirements.
Using Microsoft Windows NT and COM interface standards,
TestStudio can encapsulate a wide selection of programming
languages and Application Development Environments (ADEs),
including HP VEE, LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Visual Basic
and Visual C++, as well as specialized in-house programming
tools. TestStudio uses familiar Web-based browser and
hyperlink technologies to provide a common, intuitive
user interface for all programming tools - reducing
the costs of training, documentation, and ongoing maintenance.
Best-in-Class Digital and Analog Instrumentation
Digital and analog instrumentation is housed in a
13-slot C-size high-performance chassis. Available integrated
instruments include Teradyne's high-performance M9-Series
VXI Digital Test Instrument with fault-dictionary and
guided-probe diagnostics, plus a suite of VXI analog
instruments, including a digital multi-meter, counter/timer,
arbitrary waveform generator, and analog switch matrix.
The switch matrix provides optimum signal versatility
and enables integration of up to eight 2-line analog
instruments. The 32 relays can be software controlled
to meet any switch matrix requirement in a single-slot
module.
Pricing for configurations of the Spectrum 9010 start
at $160,000 and the test system is currently available
for shipment. The foundation platform is a one-bay system
with standard 19-inch (48cm) rack, GPIB expansion, VXI-C
chassis, TTI Testron interface (VP Series 90 optional),
2 DC power modules, and a 4.7 kVA power distribution
subsystem (10 or 20 kVA optional). The Spectrum 9010
operating environment is TestStudio.
Teradyne is the world's largest supplier of automatic
test equipment and software for the electronics and
telecommunications industries, and a leading supplier
of high-performance backplane assemblies and connectors.
The company's Assembly Test Division is a major supplier
of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) functional test systems
and test development software for board, box, and system-level
test. Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, Teradyne
reported 1997 sales of approximately $1.26 billion.
