CITY, NJ - September 28, 1999 - Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER)
and Intellitech Corporation jointly announced a new,
low-cost boundary-scan test solution at the International
Test Conference (ITC). The Eclipse™ Limited Edition
software allows users on any Wintel PC that has a parallel
printer port to create, debug, execute and diagnose
Virtual Interconnect Test (VIT) tests for small-scale
board designs that incorporate the IEEE 1149.1 boundary-scan
standard. The Eclipse™ Limited Edition includes
three key software components: the Intellitech Eclipse
Debugger, Teradyne's VICTORY VIT software and Teradyne's
advanced Boundary-Scan Intelligent Diagnostics (BSID)
engine.
Intellitech to Distribute Eclipse™ Limited Edition
Intellitech, a Value Added Reseller (VAR) of Teradyne
boundary-scan tools, will be the exclusive distributor
of the Eclipse™ Limited Edition software. A special
edition of Teradyne's VICTORY software will be used
for providing ATPG (Automatic Test Pattern Generation)
for the interconnect tests and Intellitech's Eclipse,™
a 1149.1 (JTAG) based hardware verification and test
tool, will be used for applying and debugging the test
patterns against the user's hardware. Advanced pin-level
fault diagnostics are then delivered by Teradyne's BSID
engine. BSID is the result of nearly a decade of 1149.1
diagnostic development by Teradyne. Teradyne has developed
and sold boundary-scan test tools since the inception
of the IEEE 1149.1 test standard.
The Eclipse™ Limited Edition bundle was designed
to offer users a low-cost, easy to use package that
addresses the need for boundary-scan testing of low
component count board designs. The tool could also be
used as a teaching aid in a course on Design For Testability
(DFT) techniques. "This software bundle removes
two barriers of IEEE 1149.1," said CJ Clark, President
& CEO of Intellitech and current chairman of the
IEEE 1149.1 Working Group. "The two barriers are
the high entry cost of traditional boundary-scan tools
and the difficulty in their use. The Eclipse™
Limited Edition brings a new ease of use at one-twentieth
the price of the standard tools."
PC-Based Test Generation and Execution
Running under Windows 95/98 or NT™, the Eclipse™
Limited Edition will include VICTORY's popular Integrated
Development Environment (IDE) that provides an easy
to use test generation environment using a graphical
process flow control model. Eclipse™ has been
designed to provide many of the inputs that VICTORY
needs, then the IDE quickly creates test vectors in
industry standard Serial Vector Format (SVF) to be applied
by Eclipse™ and diagnosed by Teradyne's BSID.
Pricing and Availability
The Eclipse™ Limited Edition is available starting
at $2,000. Prices will vary outside North America. The
software will ship in the fourth quarter of 1999 and
is backed by Intellitech service and support.
