READING, MASSACHUSETTS - March 30, 2001 - Teradyne,
Inc. (NYSE: TER) announced that its Ai7 32 Channel
Analog Measurement Board has received the 2000 "Best
New VXI Product of the Year" award from VXIBus
Newsletter. The annual award was presented by Fred Bode,
editor-in-chief of VXIBus Newsletter, in the November
edition of the publication.
Teradyne's Ai7 Series employs unique tester-per-pin
analog testing architecture to provide high-throughput
testing for complex mixed-signal modules. The 32-channel
instrument performs real-time functional test with six
independent test resources per channel, offering VXI
system integrators unparalleled flexibility to create
test programs that emulate as-used configurations. With
a total of 192 instruments simultaneously available,
the Ai7 Series reduces no-fault-found conditions, increasing
product reliability while ensuring high overall throughput.
As Bode noted, he chose the Teradyne Ai7 "...because
it demonstrated some very interesting 'Outside-the-Box'
thinking.... This takes a page from digital pin-based
electronics, where you want to make simultaneous measurements
on a large number of channels. Traditionally, analog
instruments were too expensive and too large to consider
this approach, so automatic test systems were forced
to switch the instruments sequentially to different
pins and make a sequence of measurements, thus slowing
overall throughput. Now Teradyne appears with a 32-channel,
single-slot VXI module that has 6 measurement instruments
per channel, for a total of 192 instruments."
Steve Fairbanks, Ai7 Series Product Manager, added,
"The Best New VXI Product award is great honor
for us. We are grateful for the recognition of our success
in designing and developing robust, leading-edge products
that continue to meet the demanding test requirements
of our customers."
