KONG, China -- Jan. 11, 2002 -- Teradyne, Inc.,
[NYSE: TER] will exhibit its major electronics manufacturing
test and inspection solutions at InterNepcon in Tokyo
January 16-18. During the show, Asia-Pacific manufacturers
will get their first view of key products offered by
the company's expanded Assembly Test Division that resulted
from the merger of Teradyne and GenRad.
"InterNepcon Japan is an ideal opportunity for
us to demonstrate Teradyne's unique product range that
is designed for faster test times, more efficient use
of human resources and reduced time-to-market,"
said Patrick Tong, general manager of Teradyne Asia.
"With the widest range of hardware and software
solutions, Teradyne allows manufacturers to focus on
achieving precise test requirements and to do so more
cost effectively," Tong added. "While we have
worked for many years with original equipment and contract
electronics manufacturers throughout the Asia-Pacific
region, InterNepcon in Tokyo is a special opportunity
to introduce our leading-edge products to an even wider
audience."
Featured at Teradyne's exhibit InterNepcon are:
• GR Versa-OT™ optical functional test solution
• GR TestStation 12X™
• Spectrum S8852 in-circuit board test solutions
• Optima 7300 automated optical inspection solution
Optical Tests Reduce Costs
The unique GR Versa-OT optical test platform was developed
to enable manufacturers to address specific test requirements
more efficiently and significantly reduce overall test
costs within optical telecommunications network products.
GR Versa-OT is used in applications such as the Internet,
video and multimedia interaction, and advanced digital
services.
The GR Versa OT is a PXI/CompactPCI-based test solution
for supporting functional test of optical network products
in a production environment. The fully integrated single-rack
system is specifically designed to meet the broad range
of optical interfaces employed by communication network
equipment manufacturers.
The system's small footprint, ability to test multiple
ports simultaneously, and GR TestManager production
test software gives optical communication equipment
manufacturers a cost-effective solution that minimizes
floor space requirements.
New Architecture Advances Test Levels
The GR TestStation™ 12X is an all-real pin in-circuit
test system that provides full test resources for every
node of a board. The GR TestStation™ is designed
to meet growing technological challenges for tighter
voltage levels, accurate test voltages and more useable
digital resources. Built on a new architecture and platform
evolved from Teradyne's proven GR228X™, the GR
TestStation 12X takes testing to an advanced and cost-effective
level.
Spectrum Spans the Test Range
The SpectrumTM manufacturing test platform is a unified
test environment that spans the entire range of board-test
applications: classic in-circuit test (ICT), in-line
process test, single-stage test (ICT plus functional
test), high-performance digital functional test, and
depot-based diagnosis and repair. Built around an extended
VXI backplane and operating on TestStudio™, the
new Spectrum platform is flexible, efficient, scalable,
and reusable.
The Spectrum 8852 is configurable with up to 2560 non-multiplexed
in-circuit channels. It has 20 Extended VXI card slots
for adding analog-only channel cards (CC1s), hybrid
digital/analog channel cards (CC2s) or integrating C-sized
VXI instruments and can also be configured with up to
192 M910 digital functional test channels.
Fastest Automated Optical Test Inspection Solution
Featuring state-of-the-art technology and proven expertise,
Teradyne's Optima™ AOI systems provide speed,
accuracy, reliability and repeatability. The Optima
7300 is the fastest automated inspection system available
today, able to keep up with the highest-capacity surface
mount lines with a single AOI system.
The Optima 7300 features a new, high-speed x-y positioning
gantry and new image detection and acquisition architecture
that complete the scan, diagnosis, and board handling
cycle at greater than twice the speed or more of competing
alternatives.
