BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept.
23, 2003--Teradyne, Inc.'s (NYSE:TER) Assembly
Test Division today announced a new version of TPS Converter
Studio(TM) software to reduce the time and costs of
migrating test-program sets (TPSs) from the Teradyne
L-series test platform to the Teradyne Spectrum 9100-series
test platform and M9-series digital test instrument
(DTI). The company made the announcement at the Autotestcon
Systems Readiness Technology Conference in Anaheim,
California.
TPS Converter Studio is the first commercially available
L-series to Spectrum 9100-series TPS migration product.
TPS Converter Studio brings together best-in-class tools
and a structured, guided process in a highly integrated
environment to reduce the time, costs, and guesswork
out of legacy L-series-based TPS migration.
TPS Converter Studio has also been designated by the
U.S. Navy as the preferred application for CASS to RT-CASS
digital test code conversion because of its support
for the M9-series digital test instrument (DTI), which
is the digital portion of both CASS and RT-CASS test
systems.
TPS Converter Studio Version 2.0 includes three significant
enhancements:
- The digital code converter now supports translation
of all L-series-based digital functions to equivalent
M9-series functions.
- Direct support for analog functions in the standard
L-Series DMM, Counter/Timer, and Function Generator
instruments completely automates code conversion to
the equivalent instruments in the Spectrum 9100-series
test system.
- Integration with Spectrum 9100-series system configuration
databases under TestStudio automates pin map generation
and UUT pin-to-instrument mapping.
TPS Converter Studio solves the problem of re-hosting
legacy L-series test programs on to newer Spectrum 9100
test systems based on the M9 DTI. "Re-hosting a
test program is more than just test code translation,
and ordinarily it can be an expensive and time-consuming
process that approaches the cost of creating a test
program from scratch," said David Rolince, product
manager. "TPS Converter Studio not only provides
tools that automate the conversion of test-program sets,
but also guides users through a structured conversion
process that ensures consistency and completeness."
Teradyne created TPS Converter Studio to meet the needs
of two types of customers: 1) L-series test system users
who want to retire their L-series testers and move to
the more modern Spectrum 9100-series test platform and
2) RT-CASS customers who need to migrate the digital
portions of their CASS programs to the RT-CASS configuration.
TPS Converter Studio software offer three major features
that deliver value to the customer:
- A process-oriented graphical user interface that
organizes the
program-conversion task into sequential steps and
ensures that
all migration tasks are completed
- A code-migration screener that quickly identifies
code
inconsistencies between source and target test systems
and
provides suggested corrections
- A comprehensive test-function library that automates
the
translation of digital and analog programming code
These key features deliver the following customer benefits:
simplified and smooth migration to the new test environment,
high-quality test-program sets, and dramatically reduced
time and costs.
