GenRad and International Test Technologies Launch New PC Motherboard Functional Solution at NEPCON West

Anaheim, California -- February 29, 2000 -- GenRad, Inc. (NYSE: GEN) today announced at NEPCON West that it has entered into an agreement with International Test Technologies to jointly develop new functional test solutions for manufacturers of microprocessor based boards.

The first product of the alliance, GR microXL, was launched today at NEPCON West. GR microXL is targeted at PC OEMs and EMS companies supporting PC OEMs and will be available for shipment in Q2. For more information on GR microXL see http://www.genrad.com.

The principal objective of the alliance is to develop a low-cost standard test hardware and software platform with minimal test programming set-up, by using preprogrammed test libraries, providing minimal test execution time with the lowest cost for the functional test of microprocessor based boards. The solutions will use International Test Technologies’ unique test emulation technology and will be built upon industry standards and proven technologies.

Mike Schraeder, President of GenRad’s EMS business unit commented, "The agreement with International Test Technologies will expand our software solutions in the motherboard end-of-line functional test arena. These new test solutions will be ideally suited to address the technology and pricing pressures facing many microprocessor board manufacturers."

Gerry Jones, President and CEO of International Test Technologies added, " There is an increasing need for lower-cost test solutions for manufacturers of microprocessor based boards that can perform functional tests faster and at a lower total cost-per-test. Test systems simply have not kept pace with the huge performance and cost benefits delivered by the personal computer. The agreement with GenRad, one of the industry’s leading supplier of test system solutions, will produce the next-generation systems needed for microprocessor board manufacturers to test their products several times faster and at a much lower cost."
