Names McCauley to Head Global Software Development

WESTFORD, MA -- September 26, 2000 -- GenRad, Inc. [NYSE: GEN] today announced an executive addition designed to reinforce the company's focus on software as part of its strategic commitment to customer-valued solutions.

Software strategist and former CEO of BrightPost Solutions, Carl L. McCauley, has been named Vice President for Global Software Development within the company's GenRad Global Technology business unit, announced Robert Dutkowsky, GenRad's Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President.

McCauley's position is new to GenRad, which is implementing a sweeping corporate refocusing of its business units and aligning them with the way its advanced electronic industry customers do business.

"As we refocus our business to more closely integrate our hardware, command-and-control software, and total service-and-support solutions, application development takes on increased importance," said Dutkowsky in making the McCauley announcement. "Carl's experience in leading global software development teams will enable GenRad to accelerate our pace of deployment."

McCauley will be responsible for technical direction and development of all GenRad software products and product suites. His scope of operations will include software development sites in Atlanta, GA; Portland, OR; Manchester, UK; and Zurich, Switzerland, as well as at company headquarters in Westford, MA.

McCauley brings a strong portfolio of software development, implementation experience, and business acumen to GenRad. He successfully deployed these capabilities in previous roles as President and CEO of BrightPost Solutions; as Senior Vice President of Fischer International Systems; and, as Applications Vice President at IVI Checkmate. McCauley has BS and MBA degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
