Environmental & Safety Management System
Teradyne maintains a global Environmental & Safety Management System to ensure that we meet our environmental goals. Our "Corporate Environmental Policy" drives our E&S objectives in areas such as Hazardous Waste Management, Chemical Safety, Emergency Planning, Electrical Safety, Contractor Safety, Injury Management & Site Assessments for real estate transactions.
The corporate E&S team is responsible for establishing a worldwide E&S strategy and implementing and tracking its compliance. E&S programs are implemented by professionals at manufacturing sites. Location managers are responsible for safety and environmental performance, while employees are required to comply with all environmental and safety laws, as well as Teradyne's E&S procedures.
Teradyne’s Global RoHS Mission Statement
In 2004, Teradyne established RoHS project teams to assess RoHS implementation alternatives and to understand the supply line issues associated with conformance to the directive. These teams are working with our suppliers to ensure that RoHS compliant materials do not adversely impact the quality and reliability of Teradyne’s products. In addition, these teams over see several complex engineering projects to ensure that our manufacturing processes meet our Design for the Environment Initiative.
It is important that our employees, customers and suppliers know that Teradyne continues in its strong commitment to protecting and improving the environment for future generations. Our work on RoHS is just one of the ways we strive to be an industry leader in demonstrating stewardship for our environment. Teradyne has a strong commitment to workplace safety, and we integrate E&S policies into our daily business operations. Management regularly reviews safety metrics, and managers and employees participate in E&S awareness training as a part of their continuous learning at Teradyne.
Teradyne and the WEEE Directive
On January 27, 2003 the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union authorized Directive 2002/96/EC or WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). The aim of the directive is to halt the growing volume of electrical and electronic (EEE) waste disposed of in landfill sites.
This directive encourages and sets specific criteria for the collection, handling and recycling of EEE waste. Consumer and business-to-business (B2B) wastes are treated differently (All Teradyne products are considered B2B). However, all EEE products covered by the directive must be marked with the WEEE symbol (trash can with an "X"). The EU deadline for implementation was August 13, 2005.
Teradyne has evaluated our product lines against the criteria set forth in the WEEE directive. As required by the legislation, any Teradyne product covered by the directive and sold in the EU after August 13, 2005 is marked with the WEEE symbol. Teradyne uses the symbol based on the EN 50419:2005 CENELEC standard. The bottom bar certifies the product concerned was placed on the market after August 13, 2005.
Teradyne is registering in member states in accordance with the WEEE legislation requirements. Not all member states have implemented the directive to date.

Human Trafficking/Slavery in Supply Chain
Teradyne's Supplier Code of Conduct prohibits the use of human trafficking and slavery by its suppliers. Teradyne regularly communicates to its supply chain the obligations and prohibited activities pursuant to the Supplier Code of Conduct and is in the process of obtaining the agreement of its suppliers to comply with the Supplier Code of Conduct.
