Teradyne is pleased to announce
a new release of TestStation software. Version 5.9.0
is the latest version of software for TestStation UltraPin-based
test systems. It replaces previous versions of TestStation
software and provides a powerful environment for developing,
debugging, and running in-circuit board test programs.
For an overview of the features and capabilities of
the TestStation software please refer to the release_notes.doc
file located on the TestStation Installation CD or in
the Teradyne\GRNavigate\228x\help
directory.
Please note that Version
5.9.0 cannot be installed on older GR228X and TS8X test
systems. Version 5.8.0 is the last software release
that supports ICA-based GR228X and TS8X test systems
that are configured with Combo pin board technology
(Combo1, Combo2, HDC1, and HDC2). Version 5.7.2 is the
last software release that supports non-ICA GR228X testers.
The Version 5.9.0 offline program development software
can still be used to develop test programs for older
GR228X and TS8X test systems, but the test programs
must first be translated on the target tester before
they can be run.
To take advantage of new features and future software
enhancements, Teradyne recommends that older non-ICA
and Combo pin board based tester models be replaced
with the latest TestStation 12X, LH, and LX UltraPin
test systems. Teradyne offers attractive trade-in programs
to help customers upgrade to the latest technology.
Refer to Teradyne’s ATD in-circuit website (www.teradyne.com/ict/teststation-in-circuit-test/promotions.html).
For support status information and replacement recommendations
related to discontinued test systems refer to (www.teradyne.com/atd/support/discontinued.html).
New features of Version 5.9.0
include:
- Support for FrameScan
FX
Teradyne has significantly improved Framescan in response
to the smaller device packages and connector technologies
that are being used on new board designs. The improvements
include new advanced measurement hardware and improved
software algorithms. The hardware improvement includes
a new low noise amplifier in the measurement circuit.
The software improvement includes an automatic precision
mode that increases the number of measurement samples
for low measurement signals.
Teradyne is marketing these collective hardware and
software improvements that extend the measurement
capabilities of the FrameScan capacitive opens technique
under the product name FrameScan
FX. Refer to http://www.teradyne.com/ict/teststation-in-circuit-test/framescan.html
for additional information.
- Test Generation Support
for Benchtop BSCAN Solutions
Teradyne has created a hybrid test model that makes
it easier to integrate benchtop boundary scan solutions
into the TestStation in-circuit tester.
The hybrid test model allows specification of a benchtop
bscan vendor (Acculogic, Asset, Corelis, Goepel, JTAG,
etc.) the location of the boundary scan test files,
and the connection method (Direct to fixture, through
IEEE Mux port, or via Custom Function Board). Using
this information, the hybrid test generator automatically
integrates the calls to the benchtop bscan tests at
the appropriate locations in the in-circuit test program
and consolidates the bscan failures with the in-circuit
test diagnostics.
This approach automates the combining of benchtop
bscan tests and ICT tests and allows customers to
re-use tests that have been developed for their engineering
and prototype development facilities.
- Enhanced Retest-On-Fail
Operation
Teradyne has enhanced TestStation’s Retest-On-Fail
production test capabilities. The RTOF enhancements
include a new tab in the RTS GUI, the addition of
a Max Cycle Count
option that can be used to limit the number of times
the board vacuum is cycled, and the ability to set
locks on each RTOF option for Production test purposes.
- New Test Library Models
536 new digital device models have been added to the
Version 5.9.0 system digital test library (diglib8x.dtl).
Refer to the product release notes for a list of the
device models that have been added. In addition, 183
of the existing Digital test library models have been
updated to include the new TECHNOLOGY keyword which
allows the test program generator to automatically
create accurate logic level assignments for all PCB
nets.
Product Licensing:
The licensed features of the TestStation Version 5.9.0
software have been updated to use the FLEXlm licensing
capability that is built into Teradyne’s Licensing
2.0 Client Service Software. This change replaces the
GR License Manager that used ELAN as the license provider.
This software change simplifies license management
activities because a single software license tool is
now used for all Teradyne software products (D2B, ICT,
and AXI), and because FLEXlm supports advanced licensing
capabilities that were not supported by the ELAN based
GR License Manager.
If you are running a previous version of TestStation
software that is based on ELAN license keys, and the
GR License Manager, then you must run the Teradyne 2.0
Licensing Registration Wizard after the version 5.9.0
software installation to create a registration file
that can be used by Teradyne customer support to generate
permanent licenses for your tester or offline programming
PC.
If you are upgrading from version 5.8.0 and already
have the ELAN 580 License Enable key, then all your
older ELAN license keys will remain valid and expire
30 days after the 5.9.0 software is loaded. If you are
upgrading from an earlier version of TestStation software,
then you must obtain permanent or emergency FLEXlm license
keys from Teradyne Customer Support to run the 5.9.0
software. It is highly recommended that you register
your PC or tester with Teradyne as soon as possible
to avoid potential downtime.
Should you encounter any problems or have questions,
please do not hesitate to call Teradyne Customer Care
