Teradyne - Semiconductor Test Division

Semiconductor Test is a lead-
ing supplier of semiconductor test equipment for logic, RF, analog, power, mixed-signal, and memory technologies. We deliver test solutions to developers and manufacturers of a broad range of integrated circuits, packaged separately or integrated as System-On-a-Chip (SOC) or System-In-Package (SIP) devices. ICs tested by Teradyne are used in computing, communications, consumer, automotive, identification, and internet applications.

Product Integration

Handler Interfaces

The Handler Interfaces offered by the Production Integration group allow the Teradyne testers to dock to a variety of current model device handlers without any additional integration effort on behalf of the customer.

A standard DUT up handler interface consists of:

  • Interface base plate and spacers for hardware components

  • Set of Teradyne Docking Grooves

  • Set of Teradyne Coarse Alignment Pins

  • Handler Interface Insert*

Base Plate

The Base Plate is the primary structural element in the handler interface.  Although all base plates are similar, each one is made specifically for a certain handler to utilize existing mounting holes on the handler or for using mounting holes that are added at the time of installation.

The Base Plate has 'Z-Blocks' that set the base plate at the correct spacing from the handler datum plane.  Often, these Z-blocks are based upon standard spacing values suggested by the handler manufacturer, though they can be customized for the application if necessary.

The outer docking mechanics are also included on the base plate.  This consists of the Teradyne Kinematic Grooves as well as the coarse alignment pins.  These features allow the testhead to attach to the interface without overloading the Interface Board mechanics with external non-compliance forces.

Inserts

The base plates have a standardized cutout in the center to allow the interface to be adapted to a number of different configurations.  Teradyne offers inserts to allow docking to Catalyst as well as the FLEX family without the need to swap out the complete interface.  The inserts for the interface are purchased a-la-carte to allow the interface to be customized for the specific needs of the application.  Please click here for more information on the FLEX Family inserts.
