Teradyne Selects Salland Engineering's SEDana Product as Standard Test Data Analysis Tool
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2004--Teradyne Inc. (NYSE:TER) announced an agreement with Salland Engineering (Europe) that will have Teradyne's Test Assistance Group (TAG) standardize on Salland's SEDana test data analysis product as the tool of choice for analyzing semiconductor test solution data. In addition, Teradyne customers will receive preferential pricing on SEDana product licenses directly from Salland Engineering. The agreement also includes provisions for TAG to offer standard data analysis training to customers and engage in continuous interaction with Salland's engineers to develop new features and align evolving market requirements to SEDana performance capabilities. The agreement is part of an ongoing Teradyne TAG strategy to provide support solutions that address each stage of the test development and production integration process.
"Through global standardization on the best-in-class data analysis tool, TAG further meets its goal to help semiconductor companies develop robust products and successfully move them into production test," said Yves Destenaves, General Manager of Teradyne's Test Assistance Group.
The SEDana tool provides a comprehensive suite of data analysis functions to assist test, product, and design engineers in evaluating device test response under varying conditions. The analysis enables optimal determination of test limits, device specifications, and product/process modifications to maximize production test yields.
"To develop a best-of-breed tool, we applied considerable resources to identify and accommodate market requirements, while backing these into Salland's core competencies and substantial experience in semiconductor test," said Paul van Ulsen, Salland Engineering President, CEO. "The Teradyne TAG evaluation certainly validated our efforts. We look forward to working with TAG to enhance the SEDana product and incorporate ways to further streamline test data analysis and monitoring."
Teradyne performed a technical benchmark by TAG engineers from the global support regions to identify top performing tools for standardization by TAG worldwide. "SEDana ultimately advanced to become the technical front runner through its rich feature set, ease of use, and unique ability to assess equipment variations, which is crucial in the correlation process," says Julia DiChiaro, TAG's Engineering Tools Leader. "SEDana fully accommodated, and even surpassed, the requirements of TAG's standard correlation and acceptance procedure, which is key to delivering reliable engineering solutions to our customers."
Tools were rated on their individual analysis features, graphics performance, flexibility, and operating systems supported. Finally, they were judged on their ability to meet stringent TAG processes for test program development and conversion, used in services such as Transfer Express, a TAG service that reliably ports device testing from development sites into high-volume production test environments, anywhere in the world.
