BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 2001--Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) introduced, at the International Test Conference (ITC), the 3.2 Gbps SerDes Port Qualifier (SPQ). The SPQ is the latest addition to the suite of Teradyne products and techniques aimed at meeting the needs of the growing SerDes and SONet markets. The new SPQ instrument is the first integrated automated test instrument capable of testing 3.2Gbps SerDes ports at production efficiencies. Designed to test up to 66 differential TX/RX SerDes ports in parallel, the SPQ provides extensive test coverage with high throughput.
Tony Mandia, Datacom Business Unit Manager at Teradyne, said, "Leading companies in the SerDes, SONet and InfiniBand(TM) marketplaces are designing products at exponentially increasing data rates that continually push the CMOS process to its limits. Customers tell us they need to do at speed functional, and all jitter testing in production. Over the last 3 years, Teradyne has been pleased to work with many of these companies to develop cutting edge test solutions in this dynamic market. Now that many of these devices are reaching volume production, we have integrated the critical set of test tools into the 3.2 Gbps SPQ to provide superior reliability and throughput."
The SPQ works in concert with Tiger's unique combination of high-speed differential digital pins, extensive analog test capability, and programmable speed enabling to cost effectively provide superior test coverage. With features like true differential drive and receive, 16 meg data patterns, as well as jitter insertion and measurement, Catalyst Tiger users can now qualify their SerDes ports with the highest throughput in the industry. By adding SPQ pin cards to existing configurations, every Tiger test system can easily be upgraded to include these capabilities.
