Unisem Expands its Worldwide Mixed Signal/Rf Test Business with Teradyne
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 2004--Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) announced Unisem has purchased Teradyne's FLEX system for their Malaysia test facility to support multiple Fabless companies in Europe and the US. Unisem, headquartered in Malaysia, recently acquired Atlantic Technology of Wales a leading European mixed-signal and RF test and assembly service provider with an existing installed base of Teradyne test systems. The new Teradyne systems ordered by Unisem will expand the Malaysian test house into the mixed-signal business. The multiple system order, including J750 and Catalyst systems, will be used for consumer audio, video and mobile phone device test.

"We selected Teradyne's FLEX because it economically addresses the test needs of all our Fabless customers," said Jeff Baloun, Managing Director, Unisem, Wales. "The system's multi-site test enables us to reduce test costs. Excellent test economics combined with the proven global customer support Teradyne provides our Unisem Wales location, made FLEX and Teradyne a clear choice."

"FLEX is designed to deliver efficient multi-site test and test capacity for our customers - tester utilization means everything to a test house," said Urs Berger, Business Development Manager, Teradyne. "It's exciting to see the more advanced test houses, like Unisem, see the power of FLEX's adaptability in production to meet a wide spectrum of device test needs. Unisem has a customer base that includes many premier emerging technology companies as well as blue chip IDMs, and it is with this challenge that we look forward to continuing our support for their diverse range of customers."

FLEX

Breaking the cost of test barrier with high-efficiency multi-site test while meeting the demands of increasing complexity for an expanding range of devices, FLEX advances multiple test technologies. FLEX spans test requirements from conventional DFT and structural test to standard analog and mixed-signal to complex SoC. Its Tester-per-device-core architecture delivers a complete set of test resources to each device core, with instrument synchronization and control in device clock time on a vector-by-vector basis. The Universal Slot test head and high-density instrumentation allow easy reconfiguration to changing test needs, and the OpenFLEX open system architecture complements Teradyne's FLEX instrument suite, allowing the addition of focused instruments to further enhance system performance and test economics.
