KYEC Purchases Multiple Teradyne FLEX Systems for Use in Multi-Site Wafer Probe
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 9, 2004--Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) announced that King Yuan Electronics Co., LTD, (KYEC) Taiwan's largest IC test house by revenue, purchased multiple FLEX test systems for multi-site wafer probing initially for ODD device applications. The FLEX was selected for its highly efficient multi-site testing capability combined with shorter test times. FLEX wafer systems are now in production at King Yuan's Hsin-chu plant. "FLEX delivers highly efficient multi-site testing combined with shorter test times," said Tonwey Cheng, KYEC Vice President. "This capability enables KYEC to deliver higher volume at lower test cost for our customers. The software compatibility among Teradyne's FLEX, J750 and our recently purchased IP750 test systems for multi-site CMOS image sensor testing, leverages the programming skills of our engineers. By further increasing our large installed base of FLEX, J750 and IP750 test systems, we have significantly increased our capacity to serve our customer base in the high volume consumer device segment." "It is exciting to leverage our extensive knowledge and technology in multi-site probing for microcontrollers and memory, and apply them to SOC on FLEX," said Doug Elder, General Manager, Semiconductor Test Business Groups, Teradyne. "The highly efficient parallel architecture of the hardware and software enables FLEX to provide the test quality and throughput for SOC at wafer probe that King Yuan needs to satisfy their customers' requirements." About FLEXBreaking the cost of test barrier with high-efficiency multi-site test while meeting the demands of increasing complexity for an expanding range of devices, FLEX advances multiple test technologies. FLEX spans test requirements from conventional DFT and structural test to standard analog and mixed-signal to complex SOC. Its Tester-per-device-core architecture delivers a complete set of test resources to each device core, with instrument synchronization and control in device clock time on a vector-by-vector basis. The Universal Slot test head and high-density instrumentation allow easy reconfiguration to changing test needs, and the OpenFLEX open system architecture complements Teradyne's FLEX instrument suite, allowing the addition of focused instruments to further enhance system performance and test economics.
