CSR Purchases Multiple Teradyne FLEX Systems for Wireless Device Test
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 2005--Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) announced that Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR), a leader in semiconductors for short-range wireless communications, has placed multiple orders for the FLEX™ test system with a full range of microwave test capability. The systems will be used for engineering and production device test of CSR's BlueCore™ integrated system-on-chip (SOC) devices utilizing Bluetooth™ technology. "Teradyne's FLEX system offers CSR the broadest range of capability, wide acceptance at subcontract manufacturers, and unsurpassed cost-of-test economics for testing our SOC devices," said Chris Ladas, Vice President of Manufacturing, CSR. "With high-efficiency multi-site testing, FLEX delivers significant cost savings over alternative solutions." "CSR continues to demonstrate its leadership in offering highly integrated, cost effective solutions to wireless consumer markets, " said David Trounson, General Manager, Teradyne Semiconductor Test Wireless Business Unit. "FLEX is well aligned to CSR's aggressive cost targets and we look to continue to work with CSR to support their exciting roadmap of single chip wireless devices with the high-performance and high-parallel capability of FLEX." About FLEX Breaking the cost of test barrier with high-efficiency multi-site test, while meeting the demands of increasing complexity for an expanding range of devices, FLEX advances multiple test technologies. FLEX spans test requirements from conventional DFT and structural test to standard analog and mixed-signal to complex SOC, for testing consumer, automotive, mass storage, wireless, and data communications devices. Its Tester-per-device-core™ architecture delivers a complete set of test resources to each device core, with instrument synchronization and control in device clock time on a vector-by-vector basis. The Universal Slot test head and high-density instrumentation allow easy reconfiguration to changing test needs, and the OpenFLEX™ open system architecture complements Teradyne's FLEX instrument suite, allowing the addition of focused instruments to further enhance system performance and test economics.
