Samsung Electro-Mechanics Selects Teradyne's Image Sensor Test System IP750 Kumamoto, Japan-December 5, 2001-Teradyne, Inc. Japan Division announced that Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., Ltd , (SEM) the world's leading general electronic component, has purchased an IP750 to test its CMOS Image devices, which is used for Digital camera, PC camera and camera module for PDA and cellular phone. IP750 was shipped and installed at Suwon plant in Korea, Samsung EM headquarters, in December, 2000. IP750 is a Image Sensor test system for multisite testing of CCD and CMOS image sensor devices. The IP750, which is based on the popular INTEGRA J750, has been designed and developed by Teradyne's Japan Division. The IP750 has the 100MHz digital tester functionalities, and the state-of-art hardware and software architecture that answer the needs for testing CCD/CMOS image sensor devices, which requires complex functional testing. Doo-Soo Kwon, Test Manager, at Samsung Electro-Mechanics said , "The IP750 has been helping our productions since installed. Its high-parallel CMOS test capability allows us to reduce the cost of tests. In addition, Teradyne's local field support helped us to develop total test solutions." Hidenori Oishi, Image Sensor test system Product Marketing Manager said, "We are honored that we could have Samsung Electro-Mechanics as Teradyne's customer. Our solution to reduce testing costs allows for not only to lower the test floor cost but also to minimize the testing cost per one device with the high-throughput parallel test efficiency. We surely believe this will largely contribute to Samsung Electro-Mechanics to increase the production of CCD/CMOS image sensor devices." About IP750 IP750, based on the INTEGRA J750 test system, features 100MHz digital drive and has the latest architecture for the complex testing needs of CCD/CMOS image sensor devices. The IP750 reduces test cost with fast, parallel measurement of four devices, and its test capability extends from high speed CCD devices over 10M pixels to CMOS image sensor devices requiring the digitize pixel capture function. For test development, the system features IG-XL software, the semiconductor ATE industry's first test development suite combining the power and performance of the latest PC technology and Windows NT(R) operating system with the familiarity of standard Windows productivity tools, like Microsoft Excel(TM) and Visual Basic(TM). Teradyne's Japan Division (JD) has the world's largest shipment volume and installed base in the image sensor device test market. Image sensor testing requires a set of test techniques and know-how, which is completely different from other semiconductor test techniques. The Japan Division has more than fifteen years of experience in this area, and because of its experienced engineering staff JD can provide total support for the volume production of the customer's new devices.
