Teradyne Announces Multiple System Order from NEC Electron Devices; NEC Electron Devices Selects the J750 Test System TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2001--Teradyne's Integra Test Division announced today an order for multiple J750 test systems from NEC Electron Devices, under NEC Corporation's (NIPNY) internal company system. NEC Corporation is a worldwide manufacturer of computer, communications, and semiconductor products. NEC Electron Devices purchased several J750 test systems for single-chip microcontroller testing. Several systems are already in production at NEC Electron Devices' R&D and Production Centers in Europe and Japan. More systems are scheduled for delivery in 2001. The J750 is a highly-integrated series of test systems designed for high parallel testing of devices in the low-end and mid-range semiconductor markets. Over 600 J750 systems are in production worldwide. The J750s low-cost and extraordinary productivity has truly put it in a class all its own. Comments from the NEC Electron Devices division employing the J750, said, "We are extremely satisfied by the performance of the J750 for single-chip microcontroller testing. The exceptional efficiency of the J750's multi-site testing has increased production testing throughput, enabling us to reduce production testing costs. In addition, the small footprint and low cost of the J750 allows us to cut overall costs. The availability of Teradyne's product support and customer support team worldwide was also a powerful incentive, enabling us to deploy our product strategy." Doug Elder, ITD Marketing Manager, said, "Partnering with NEC Electron Devices to address their testing needs is an exciting challenge for us. We are confident that NEC Electron Devices will experience immediate productivity with the J750, while meeting their strict time-to-market demands and achieving the best test economics. We are extremely well-positioned to meet the diverse and cost-sensitive needs of the growing single-chip microcontroller market." About the J750 The J750 delivers up to 1,024 digital channels in a zero footprint system entirely contained within a test head. Its high-throughput parallel testing capabilities help deliver 95% parallel test efficiency for up to 32 devices. The system offers a suite of options to address the variation of testing needs in the low-end and mid-range semiconductor markets, including the Converter Test Option, Memory Test Option, Mixed-Signal Option, Scan Test Option, RFID Option, Redundancy Analysis and APMU. The system also features IG-XL test software, the semiconductor ATE industry's first test development suite combining the power and performance of the latest PC technology and Windows NT operating system with the familiarity of standard Windows productivity tools, like Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic. Its small footprint and high parallel test throughput provide the most economical approach to testing complex VLSI devices with embedded memory and analog cells.
