eMicro Corporation Qualifies the J750 Test System for Testing of PC Audio Devices TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 2001--Teradyne announced today that eMicro Corporation based in Singapore, has qualified the J750 test system for testing PC audio devices. eMicro is a fabless supplier of mixed-signal IC solutions to PC and Internet-related markets. Formed in September 1999 as a joint venture between Cirrus Logic Inc, Creative Technology Ltd and Vertex Technology Fund (II) Ltd, eMicro brings together a unique combination of systems expertise and mixed-signal semiconductor leadership. eMicro has identified the J750 with MSO as the target platform of choice meeting eMicro's test requirements for their current and future product lines. At this week's SEMICON Taiwan tradeshow, Teradyne will demonstrate the quad-site testing of eMicro's high performance AC '97 audio codec device with the Mixed Signal Option (MSO). Michael Holt, CEO of eMicro, said, "eMicro's audio CODECs deliver the highest performance, lowest noise audio processing for markets including the cost sensitive, high volume PC Audio market. The J750 provides the performance that our products demand at the lowest overall test cost. Teradyne's field and applications teams developed a full performance quad-site test solution in just 8 weeks, significantly reducing our test time. The J750 is a critical part of our tester roadmap." The J750 with the MSO has proven to be a very affordable solution and has outperformed any existing platform in terms of test time and test performance, with better accuracy, less distortion, and a base instrument performance of better than 104dB SNR over a 20kHz bandwidth. Doug Elder, Teradyne's J750 Worldwide Marketing and Support Manager, said, "This qualification by eMicro reinforces our commitment to provide the best performance and test economics required in the very competitive PC Audio device market. The J750's low price and performance of the MSO instrument are a perfect fit for the consumer device market. The J750 offers an economical mixed-signal test solution, which includes an easy to use graphical programming environment and the tools necessary to achieve high levels of parallel test efficiency. eMicro will appreciate the ability to deliver superior mixed-signal, parallel test capabilities to their customers for high volume production with the J750 test system." J750 Family of Test Systems The J750 delivers up to 1,024 digital channels in a zero footprint system entirely contained within a test head. Its high-throughput parallel testing capabilities help deliver 95% parallel test efficiency for up to 32 devices. The system offers a suite of options to address the variety of testing needs in the low-end and mid-range semiconductor markets, including the Converter Test Option, Memory Test Option, Mixed-Signal Option, Scan Test Option, RFID Option, Redundancy Analysis and APMU. Its small footprint and high parallel test throughput provide the most economical approach to testing complex VLSI devices with embedded memory and analog cells. The system also features IG-XL test software, the semiconductor ATE industry's first test development suite combining the power and performance of the latest PC technology and Windows NT operating system with the familiarity of standard Windows productivity tools, like Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic.
