SigmaTel Selects Teradyne Integra J750 Test System for Testing of PC Audio Codecs

TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 2002--Teradyne (NYSE:TER) announced today that SigmaTel, the leading provider of AC'97 audio codecs to the PC market, has recently selected the Integra J750 test system. SigmaTel selected the Integra J750 with the Mixed Signal Option (MSO) for testing their high performance digital audio devices as well as other digital consumer products. Systems are scheduled for delivery in Q3 this year to ASECL-Taiwan and in Q4 to other SigmaTel subcontractor facilities. At this week's SEMICON Taiwan tradeshow, Teradyne will demonstrate quad-site testing of the Mixed Signal Option, using one of SigmaTel's high performance PC audio devices, the STAC9766.

Steve Beatty, Director of Operations at SigmaTel said, "We selected the J750/MSO test solution because of its high performance audio capabilities and most importantly it provides the best test economics for our digital audio devices. These tools, being easy to use and very powerful, enabled us to quickly bring to market the industry's first AC'97 2.3 audio codecs, featuring internal audio jack sensing. SigmaTel is very focused on its commitment to high performance and quality for all product offerings; the MSO software tools enable us to continue our track record in this area."

Rick Nohelty, Teradyne's J750 MSO Product Marketing Manager, said, "The J750 with the MSO has proven to be a very affordable solution for our customers testing PC audio devices and continues to outperform any existing platform in terms of cost to test and functional performance. Teradyne has recently won several J750 design-ins at major fabless manufacturers in the digital audio market, and we are in volume production in Taiwan, Korea and Singapore. Based on our success in this market segment, I am confident we can help SigmaTel expand its product roadmap to achieve market leadership."
