"Deploying the J750 broadly has contributed to our manufacturing efficiency," said Kunio Morioka, Vice President of the Manufacturing Operations Unit for NEC Electronics. "Strategically it is important in our operations to standardize on a single test system for microcontrollers across all of our manufacturing sites. As we expand our business, Teradyne continues to provide critical engineering and product support."
"We are proud to work with NEC Electronics as they ramp their microcontrollers for the automotive and consumer electronics markets," said Bryan Banish, General Manager of Teradyne's Japan Business Unit. "The J750 is achieving continued momentum worldwide with particularly strong growth in Japan. At this point, the majority of the top 10 microcontroller manufacturers worldwide have adopted the J750. The architecture of the J750 allows our customers to increase their cost competitiveness even in the face of falling device selling prices - we will continue investing and strengthening the platform."
Microcontroller devices span a wide range of applications from toys and appliances to automobile electronics. These devices represent one on the highest volume and most cost sensitive segments in the semiconductor industry. Testing microcontroller devices can only be done cost effectively when testing multiple devices in parallel. The J750 was introduced specifically aimed at the microcontroller market for testing up to 32 devices in parallel. The J750 software, IG-XL (TM), was designed from the ground up for high throughput, multi-site testing and has become the standard software system for all Teradyne semiconductor test systems going forward.
About J750
The J750's high-throughput parallel test capability provides greater than 95% efficiency. The zero footprint system delivers up to 1,024 I/O channels contained in a test head, and offers a suite of options, including the Converter Test Option, Memory Test Option, Redundancy Analysis, and Mixed Signal Option, that broaden the range of testing capabilities. The system also features IG-XL test software that combines the power and performance of the latest PC technology and Windows NT operating system with the familiarity of standard Windows productivity tools, such as Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic. The J750's small footprint and high parallel test throughput provide the most economical approach to testing complex VLSI devices with embedded memory and analog cells.
