Mellanox Technologies Selects Teradyne's Tiger to Test Its Multi-Gigabit InfiniBand Devices

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 7, 2001--Today, Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) announced that Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., a leading InfiniBand(TM) supplier, has selected the Tiger test system with its SerDes Port Qualifier to test its InfiniBand Switches, Host Channel Adaptors, and Target Channel Adaptors. The Tiger is the first integrated test system with an architecture specifically designed for the demanding requirements of high-speed SerDes type devices. The Tiger is able to rapidly test greater than 48 SerDes ports simultaneously, allowing cost effective production testing of complex mixed-signal devices.

Eyal Waldman, CEO of Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., said, "Teradyne's mixed-signal capabilities for Tiger enable Mellanox to do the required characterization type testing, including all jitter testing, at production efficiencies. This allows us to guarantee our customers that every unit of product we ship will meet their expectations. Teradyne's demonstrated expertise in testing this class of devices gave us confidence that they could tackle our future technology challenges."

Tony Mandia, Datacom Business Unit Manager at Teradyne, said, "At today's multi-gigabit data rates, companies like Mellanox are pushing the CMOS process to its limits. Today's design tools do not allow them to simulate either substrate and power supply noise (jitter) or at speed functional performance. Therefore, it becomes critical that InfiniBand and other SerDes type device manufacturers do characterization type testing of their devices in production. Teradyne's Tiger with its SerDes Port Qualifier enables our customers to test any device in the market with the highest quality and lowest production cost in the industry."

About Tiger

The Catalyst Tiger is the first over 1 Gbps SOC test system. Extending the Catalyst Family, Tiger shares the same high throughput zero-time DSP architecture, IMAGE(TM) software, and state-of-the-art analog instruments and extends the Catalyst Family to 1024 digital pins. Powered by breakthrough Silicon Germanium (SiGe) technology, Tiger sets a new digital performance standard with full I/O data rates to 1.6 Gbps while retaining the timing flexibility at top speed demanded by chipset and network processing applications.
