Teradyne’s Partnership with Wentworth

In our close partnership with Wentworth Institute of Technology, we have joined the university in its efforts to increase the number of women and other underrepresented groups of students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. In 2021, we dramatically increased our commitment to students with support for WIT’s innovative RAMP and Beacon Pathways programs, continued its support of the Women@Wentworth Scholarship program, and provided general funding for other Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion activities. These efforts align with our mission to increase the representation of women studying and working in STEM fields.

RAMP is a pre-college summer bridge program for Boston youth, designed to assist students in their transition from high school to college. Beacon Pathways is a collaboration with Boston Public Schools that aims to increase the attendance, retention, and graduation rates of Boston students. The Women@Wentworth Premier Sponsorship is a scholarship that we offer annually to a Wentworth female student.

“Wentworth’s commitment to attracting and supporting the success of diverse engineering students is impressive. Its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs align well with Teradyne and our employees’ view that strong technical education for all provides the foundation for long-term professional, business, and community success,” notes Andy Blanchard, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Teradyne. Our close partnership with the university has helped many students studying STEM advance their careers.

In addition to its financial contributions to Wentworth, Teradyne also offers co-ops to Wentworth students, hires many graduates for full-time roles, and hosts students at its headquarters in North Reading, MA to promote opportunities in the field. Our Grant Program also seeks academic professionals and students who are developing a concept that could lead to new innovations in the world of electronics, and many of those students have been Wentworth graduates. In 2020, we won the Wentworth Alumni Distinguished Employer award.

As a global leader in technology, Teradyne recognizes that STEM education provides challenging and rewarding career opportunities to students of all backgrounds and is a key to our long-term success. We value our close partnership with Wentworth and look forward to working together with them on our joint mission to increase the number of women and other underrepresented groups of students in STEM fields.
