Rapid Prototyping On UltraFLEX Training DIB Strips | Teradyne

The CAD software DIB design process (schematic capture, DIB PCB layout) followed by the DIB manufacturing usually lasts several months. This represents a lost opportunity of being able to start debugging the test program on silicon earlier, ideally over the course of the test program coding phase itself. The proposed solution consists of designing and manufacturing small prototyping boards to be plugged into standard UltraFLEX training DIB strips’ ZIF sockets. Even if the implementation of the prototyping boards on our project had some flaws (that will be detailed in the presentation), it had significantly improved debug efficiency by: – allowing us to pull-in silicon debug by almost two months before getting the final DIBs delivered – having 75% of the test blocks debugged //2 on the prototyping boards before getting the final //8 DIBs delivered. The design and manufacturing of the prototyping boards is both time and cost effective. The prototyping boards solution is both flexible, scalable and multi-site capable. The prototyping boards may also be enhanced to increase their test coverage and overcome some of the flaws of our project’s implementation.
